Sometimes coming home is the most dangerous journey.

A story of resilience, redemption, and the power of love to break the darkest chains—
The Britney McClearn Story reaches its most emotional turning point yet.

CHAPTER ONE

I’ve been waiting three weeks for an answer from the record label, hoping they’ll pick up the songs. In the meantime, I keep releasing them myself on streaming platforms and YouTube. It keeps me busy, keeps me breathing.

I refuse to clear out the girls’ room. Most days I just keep the door shut, unable to look inside.

It’s been eight brutal months. First Elsa, and now Britney and Brie are missing. I can’t, won’t believe otherwise. Tim gave me the only news I’ve had. The bodyguards’ bodies were found and identified, badly burned. Their SUV was discovered rolled on the side of the road. But nothing, nothing about Britney and Brie.

Tonight I was sitting down with dinner when the phone rang.

I answered, and a rough, gravelly voice whispered: “Dad. I’m alive.”

It was Brie.

My heart stopped. She’s alive. “Thank God! Brie, thank God you’re alive. Is Britney with you? Are you hurt? What happened? Where are you?”

Her voice was weak, halting. “We were in a coma. I remember getting out, heading toward Pepperdine. Then something hit us from the side. We rolled. That’s the last thing I remember. I woke up only a couple hours ago. Had to fight to make this call.”

She paused, her breath shaking. Then, softer: “Dad, they locked Britney up in a mental institution.”

“Writing gave me a way back to hope — now I write so others can find theirs too.”
